Carpio Claims Patron’s Cup

Congratulations to Alejandro Carpio on securing this year’s Patron’s Cup, following an impressive display of consistency across two consecutive Saturdays.
The Par event, always a true test of play, discipline and course management, saw Carpio rise to the challenge with outstanding scores of +1 in the opening round and a superb +6 in the final round.
Carpio’s performance was enough to narrowly edge out defending champion Josh Greenaway, who put up a spirited defense of his title with scores of +5 and square over the two rounds.
In what proved to be a closely contested event, Carpio’s strong finish ultimately made the difference, earning him well deserved recognition as this year’s Patron’s Cup champion.

Vale – Peter Chittendon

It is with great sadness that we advise members of the passing of Peter Chittendon, aged 81.
Peter joined Woollahra Golf Club on 28 September 2017 and, over the past eight years, became a well respected and valued member of our Club community.
A regular and enthusiastic participant in Club competitions, Peter proudly won the Life Members Cup in 2020 — a highlight that reflected both his love of the game and his competitive spirit.
Beyond his golf, Peter will be remembered for his warmth, quiet humour and the camaraderie he shared with fellow members both on the course and in the clubhouse.
A service to celebrate Peter’s life will be held on Friday, 20 February at Woollahra Golf Club at 11.00am, with the wake to follow immediately after.
On behalf of the Board, Management and Members of Woollahra Golf Club, we extend our sincere condolences to Peter’s family and friends at this difficult time.

Mixed Pennant Results

After three rounds of the Mixed Pennant competition, with 35 clubs represented across seven groups of five, Woollahra Golf Club is very well positioned.
Our group includes Lynwood, Cronulla, Gordon and Pennant Hills.
Each club hosts one match and does not play, meaning all teams contest four away matches, ensuring a level playing field.
Results to date:Match 1: vs Lynwood at Cronulla – Win 4.5–0.5 + Reserve winMatch 2: vs Cronulla at Gordon – Rain abandoned, match halvedMatch 3: vs Gordon at Pennant Hills – Win 3–2 + Reserve win

We then travel to Lynwood on 15 February for our final group match against Pennant Hills, where everything will be decided.
At this stage, it’s shaping up as a three-horse race between Woollahra,

Al held off a strong challenge from Robert Yaldwyn, who opened with a 69 before producing an exceptional 63 in round two, finishing on 132, just three shots shy of the title.

Gold Medal Winner

The Gold Medal was contested on Saturday, 7 February, with 22 competitors taking on the challenge for the honour of etching their name into the Club’s history.

Played in hot and humid conditions, it was always going to be a demanding day. Following the completion of the morning field, Alasdair Cameron (Handicap 19) was the clubhouse leader after posting a fine and consistent nett 70. Alasdair went out in 45 and came home in 44, although his round could have been even better if not for a tough finish with a 7 on the final hole.

The afternoon field faced the hottest conditions of the day, and Bobby Broadhurst (Handicap 14) experienced a testing front nine. Despite starting strongly with just two bogeys in his opening six holes, an 8 on the 6th and a 6 on the 7th saw him turn in 43. Bobby showed great composure on the back nine,
