Warren and Gibson Teams Season Begins

Warren and Gibson Teams Open Round Robin with Away Ties at Eastlakes

Our Warren and Gibson Trophy teams made the short journey to Eastlakes on Sunday, 19 July for their opening round matches, with both sides fighting hard to secure valuable away ties to open their round robin campaigns.

TL Warren Trophy

The Warren team battled to a hard-fought tie in their first match away from home.

Garry Pepper & Brett Eichorn defeated Stephen Boyd & John Reddy, 3/1

Kahn Nathan & Wentworth Twaits lost to John Markham & Nick Zafiris, 3/2

Michael Barnett & Bobby Broadhurst halved with Oliver Faulkner & Ben Tamplin

A strong win from Pepper and Eichorn, backed up by a solid half from Barnett and Broadhurst, was enough to see the team come away from Eastlakes with a valuable tie despite a narrow loss in the second pairing.

W Gibson Trophy

The Gibson team matched their clubmates’ effort, also securing an important away tie.

Erl Le Brun Honour Board Event

The Erl Le Brun Honour Board event was contested over two consecutive Medal rounds, played in March and April.

One of the Club’s premier summer handicap events, the Erl Le Brun consistently attracts a strong field, with members eager to have their name added to the Honour Board.

The opening round produced some outstanding scoring, with Michael Donaldson (5) taking an early lead after a superb nett 64. Sitting just two shots behind was a talented chasing pack comprising James Wood (14), Nixon Gill (15) and Alejandro Carpio (7), all posting nett 66s. Bobby Broadhurst (14) remained well in contention with a 67, while David Redhill (18) finished on 68. Others still within striking distance included Pat Garvan (8) with 69, Ray Gordon (4) with 70, Robert Yaldwyn (11) with 73 and Diego Piatta (16) on 74.

As is often the case, the second round proved to be the true test. Playing in

Mixed Foursomes Championship 2026

The Mixed Foursomes Championship was played over two consecutive Sundays, 5 July and 12 July. Recent rain had left the course wet underfoot, while typical winter conditions greeted players on both mornings, with crisp starts giving way to pleasant sunshine as the rounds progressed.

Round One tee times were determined by combined handicaps, with the lower handicap pairs teeing off first. The course was presented in excellent condition, with firm, fast greens and tight fairways typical of winter when the turf is dormant.

After the opening round, Sharon Doyle and junior Hughie Malloy held a narrow one shot lead in the Handicap event over Gabrielle Shanahan and Michael Williams.

In the Stroke event, Gabrielle Shanahan and Michael Williams established a commanding eight shot lead over Vanda Chong and Kahn Nathan, with Marilyn Robinson and Tim Crowe a further four shots back. It was a healthy advantage heading into the final round.

Players were greeted
