Summary of Members meeting – Tuesday 10-April-2018

It was fantastic to see 50 plus WSC members last Tuesday night discussing the future of the Club.   Thanks to those people and we look forward to having all members involved.
We are all custodians of this great Club so the engagement and input of so many members at this first gathering to discuss the strategic direction of the club was incredibly positive and rewarding.
People being involved by sharing their thoughts and ideas on how we can all contribute to maximising the potential of the Club, will make the club great again.
We encourage you all to provide your ideas and feedback. We welcome contributions from Class Associations and like minded interest groups – including paddlers.
Please get together and formulate ideas on how you can contribute to the strength of your class/ group within the Club.

WSC – Staffing

Dear Members,
We have been advised by Manny Scott, our current Sailing School Manager and Fleet Maintenance Co-ordinator, that he will be travelling overseas and pursuing some competitive sailing opportunities. Manny departs the Club in two weeks time.
On behalf of the Board I would like to thank Manny for his time with WSC and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
As you will be aware we are currently undertaking a strategic review of our business along with a review of our structures and resourcing. As part of this process we are about to go to market with a new, senior role that encompasses all the key sailing responsibilities – Race and Event Management, Sailing School and the Water sports/SUP/Kayak business.

Activities for Sunday May 13 2018

Dear Members,
Unless otherwise advised by your Class rep, tomorrow’s Winter Series Training is off due to the adverse forecast. Some classes (eg Tasars and Moths) will still hold specific training sessions, but all other classes will not be training or racing.
On-land activities are planned for Sailing School participants.
Wishing all mums a warm and happy Mother’s Day!

Announcing the appointment of WSC General Manager

Dear Club Members,

The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Ross Barratt as General Manager of the Woollahra Sailing Club. Ross starts on Tuesday 8th January 2019 and will transition into the role as he completes his other contracts.

Ross brings strong leadership and over 20 years of operational experience in strategy, sports administration, IT and systems, as well as valuable project management skills. Ross has delivered multi-million dollar projects leading teams at Vodafone, NSW Health, Gore Hill Ski Club, NSW State Emergency Services, NSW Justice and Sydney Adventist Hospital.

Ross has shown incredible commitment to the club including serving on the Board for the past 3 years. He brings an intimate understanding of the Club’s challenges and opportunities and has been integral in implementing a new strategic direction for the club. Ross is a lifelong sailor and an active club member.
