Xmas in July/Summer series prize giving
Sun 28 Jul 2019 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Come and join fellow members and friends this July at Woollahra Sailing Club for ‘Christmas in July’. A festive event including a winter feast, some Christmas tunes, and a presentation for the Summer Series of Sailing. This is also an opportunity to see the progress being made to the new ramp which will be nearing completion by then.

Sydney 2000 Olympic Sailor Visit 
Eiichiro Hamazaki was a 27 years old athlete from the Japanese Olympic Team when he first visited Woollahra Sailing Club in the year 2000.  He was training at WSC for the Sydney 2000 Olympics and for the first time, after almost twenty years, Eiichiro is back to Sydney.
This Thursday he had the courtesy to visit our Club and we were delighted to listen to his incredible story and  beautiful experience here. He mentioned that the Club was a place to meet, share, sail and overall prepare for the Olympics, with a great

2019 NSW & ACT Sailing Awards Finalists Released
With a record year of nominations across all categories, Australian Sailing announced last Saturday at the CYCA, the winners of the 2019 New South Wales & ACT Sailing Awards
Congratulations to our special members Gaye Rosen and Martin Gill for winning the prestigious “Volunteers of the year award”.
Woollahra Sailing Club would not be the same without your incredible support and beautiful smiles.
WSC Holiday Camps #SheSails
The July holiday camps are run by our incredible instructors, all local ladies who shaped every attendee with their amazing skills.
SheSails is an Australian Sailing campaign designed to recognise all of the amazing female contributors to our sport, and to encourage women  to enjoy sailing through organised activities at your local sailing club.  SheSails aims to:

Promote and celebrate female participation in the sport of sailing
Provide new and existing female sailors with the opportunity to enjoy activities at their local sailing club with like-minded people

Youth Sailing World Championships – Poland 2019 
Congratulations to our member Will Cooley and Bec Hancock (RSYS) for becoming the 2019 World Champions – Nacra 15. Will and Bec delivered an outstanding performance winning the title with one day to spare at the Youth Sailing World Championships in Gdynia.
Good luck to Ryan Littlechild, Jack Ferguson and all Australian sailors for their last day of racing.

Announcing the appointment of Manager and Coach of WSC’s Junior Sailing Programme

Woollahra Sailing Club is very pleased to announce that Alex Zimmerman has been appointed as Manager and Coach of the Club’s new Junior Sailing Programme.  Alex will join Dan Smith (our Club Sailing Manager and 5 x Olympic 470 Coach, and World Youth Championship Coach) in developing our Junior and Youth programmes.   

 

Alex is well known across the Australian and International Optimist Dinghy community and is a three times Sailing World Champion. He is widely regarded in all states of Australia as having a unique ability to help talented children progress from absolute beginner to a highly competitive level. He regularly coaches at international events with the Australian Optimist Sailing Team. This includes: World Championships, European Champs, Asian & Oceania’s Champs, South American Champs and North American Champs.  Alex joins us having just completed a 3 year period as State Head Coach in South Australia. Xmas in July/Summer series prize giving

Ramp Up!
Come and join fellow members and friends this July at Woollahra Sailing Club for ‘Christmas in July’. A festive event including a winter feast, some Christmas tunes, and a presentation for the Summer Series of Sailing. This is also an opportunity to see the progress being made to the new ramp which will be nearing completion by then.
To help with catering and confirming numbers, ticket purchase is required for the event.  At $10 an adult, and $5 a child under 10, this is a great way to spend a few hours on a Sunday to eat a hearty meal, and catch up with fellow sailors and friends at Woollahra Sailing Club.
So whats not to celebrate?  Mark it in your diaries, and tickets can be purchased up until Friday 26th July via the sailing club.
