SheSails at WSC
Woollahra Sailing Club proudly supports SheSails campaign, created to:
– Promote and celebrate female participation in Sailing;
– Provide new and existing female sailors with the opportunity to enjoy activities at their local sailing club with like-minded people;
– Develop female focused events and programs including leadership workshops and instructor/officials’ courses for females run by females.

Club News – October 4 2019

Junior Term 4 programmes
The Woollahra Sailing Club Junior Term 4 sailing school programmes commence on the weekend of 19 and 20 October.  Book now to secure your spot.

Kids Learn to Sail (Tackers) 7 -12 years old
The Tackers Learn to sail Programme is aimed at introducing children to sailing in a fun, safe, accessible and affordable way.
The programme offers children the opportunity to start on a pathway to ongoing involvement in clubs, gradually progressing through over several seasons.
Optimist green fleet
Green fleet is a club based junior (primary school age) sailing activity for kids who have completed the Tackers Programme (all 3 levels) or a similar junior learn to sail program.
Like most sports sailing recognises that primary school age kids are more likely to enjoy, and be retained in sport, if it is less competitive and more fun/games based and social. Most other sports used modified rules at this stage before progressing

Bart’s Bash
Bart’s Bash is a global sailing race taking place at 100’s of venues, with 1000’s of sailors in 100’s of different classes of boat around the world.
This year Bart’s Bash takes place on 14th-15th September 2019 and Woollahra Sailing Club will be obviously part of it.
It would be great to see you on the water and sign up to receive the latest Bart’s Bash event updates, guide and resources and connect with your wider sailing community!

Club News – August 30 2019

Ramp development
Today the first two section of the new ramp were installed.  This marks a significant achievement for our Club.  Much work has gone into the project to get it to this stage, including: demolition, waste removal, building the foundations, installation of 27 screw piles (ramp), 7 timber piles (wave break), and 4 steel piles (pontoon), new sandstone wall, construction of a dozen ramp sections, concrete retaining walls, concrete pours and more.
Our Commodore, General Manager and Construction Manager were there to celebrate this moment together and to discuss about last steps before the delivery of the new launching ramp.
 
Father’s day Opti challenge
We are looking forward to celebrating the 2019 Father’s Day with you at Woollahra Sailing Club.  The event will be an opti race and will be open to all dads or any Club members who has had a dad.  You don’t have a boat?! Don’t worry about it, Woollahra

This Sunday is the last day of winter series.  Podium positions are up for grabs in all fleets.  Don’t miss the last chance for low points.

Please be advised the 61st Annual General meeting for Woollahra Sailing Club will be held at 7pm on Thursday August 29th 2019 at the Function Room at Woollahra Sailing Club, 2 Vickery Ave, Rose Bay

School holiday camps September and October 2019

Join the number one dinghy coaching team on Sydney Harbour, Dan Smith and Alex Zimmermann, for our school holiday learn to sail and  performance programs.
Dan is a five times Olympic 470 Coach, and World Youth Championship Coach.
Alex is a three times Sailing World Champion and has coached the Australian Optimist Sailing Team.

We also offer great Club facilities and access to the best dinghy sailing on the Harbour.

Learn to sail and intermediate
Woollahra Sailing Club conducts school holiday camp programs for children aged between 7 and 16 years, covering a range of water based and sailing activities, as well as fun games and team building exercises over four full days of fun on Sydney Harbour. The courses are run during all major school holiday periods throughout the year. Our courses are fully supervised by qualified Australian Sailing instructors. September – October 2019.  Children will be grouped by similar skill level and ages catering for beginners, intermediate and performance.

Election results 2019

Sunday 25 August 2019 – Election results
Polling closed at 5:00 pm today.  Immediately after polls closed the votes were counted.  In attendance was: Frank Shepherd (Returning Officer) and three Scrutineers – Quentan Watson, Stan Bland and Ross Barratt.
It is declared that Warren Sare and Diane Vukelic have been elected to the Board of the Woollahra Sailing Club.
Thank-you for to all participating and assisting with the process.  Congratulations to Warren and Diane.

2019 Father’s Day at WSC

 
We are looking forward to celebrating the 2019 Father’s Day with you at Woollahra Sailing Club.
The event will be an opti race and will be open to all dads or any Club members who has had a dad.
You don’t have a boat?! Don’t worry about it, Woollahra Sailing Club will supply one for the race and Dads just need to come with some ability to duck under a boom.
If you need help sailing persuade your kid to jump on the opti with you and that would be the best way to spend this special day together.
Arrive at 9
Race from 9-9:30
Bacon and egg rolls 9:30-10 $5 each and free for the top 3 dad winners
9:45: Opti rigging session with the WSC Opti rep Ben Tucker
