Online Safety for Young People Living with Disability Course

For parents and caregivers of vulnerable young people, our course equips families with the necessary tools and knowledge to ensure their children’s online safety.

This week, schools across New South Wales are celebrating the very first NSW Aboriginal Languages Week. The theme is “Languages Alive, Culture Thrives,” and recognises the important role of Aboriginal community organisations and groups in preserving indigenous languages.

You can take part in virtual events like language lessons in Wiradjuri, Dunghutti, and Gumbaynggirr and enjoy a Yinabildanhi fishing story in Gamilaraay. Younger kids can also learn Aboriginal languages with Ninganah No More.

This week is also notable because it marks the Aboriginal Languages Act 2017 becoming a law. It’s a great opportunity to connect with and honour local Aboriginal community groups and organisations dedicated to revitalising their languages.

Schools Spectacular celebrates its 40th year in November this year with the theme ‘Fabulous’.

Proudly presented by the NSW Department of Education, 5000 students from across NSW public schools will showcase their creative talents across 4 incredible live performances at Qudos Bank Arena on 24 and 25 November.

NSW Department of Education’s Secretary, Murat Dizdar, said that Schools Spectacular reflected the extraordinary performing arts talent nurtured in NSW public schools.

“This annual event celebrates the creativity, passion, and dedication of students and staff, who have been tirelessly rehearsing for months to perform at the highest level in a show that will leave audiences speechless,” Mr Dizdar said.

“Beyond just entertainment, Schools Spectacular showcases the role performing arts education plays in nurturing young talent, student wellbeing and engaging our students with school.”

We invite the entire NSW school community to participate in commemorating and celebrating four decades of the NSW Education Department’s flagship performing arts event.

Education Week is an annual celebration of NSW public education that recognises the achievements of our schools, teachers, and students.

This Education Week marks 175 years of public education in NSW. That’s 175 years of our teachers and support staff playing a vital role in shaping the minds of future generations, ensuring they’re well-prepared for success in all aspects of life. 

From Monday 31 July to 4 August, we’re taking a moment to reflect and learn from our past, celebrate our achievements, and look forward to a bright future with confidence. Our schools have done an incredible job shaping the minds of future generations. We’re looking to the future to make sure our education system can prepare young people to learn throughout their lives, from the first days of early childhood education to post-school pathways.  

#EdWeek23 commenced with a live stream event broadcasted from Cambridge Park Public School to public schools across the state. The event featured messages from Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning, the Hon. Prue Car, and the Secretary for NSW Department of Education, Murat Dizdar.
