Have your say: Shape the future of public education in NSW!

The Department of Education shared a draft plan for NSW public education that invites parents and carers to share their valuable feedback to help shape the future of NSW public education.

What’s inside the draft plan?

The draft plan for NSW public education aims to create an exceptional and equitable learning system, while revitalising the teaching profession with trust and pride. It incorporates valuable insights from key stakeholder groups, including teachers, staff, education partners, parents, carers, and students. At its core, the plan is dedicated to ensuring every student receives the necessary support to thrive and succeed.

Why your involvement matters

Your input as a parent or carer is essential to create equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their background or location, and to foster a supportive learning environment.

The six focus areas

The plan has 6 focus areas:

  • deliver equitable outcomes, opportunities and experiences

  • give children the best start in learning

  • deliver outstanding teaching and learning

  • improve student wellbeing and development

  • provide meaningful post-school pathways

  • rebuild trust and pride in the teaching profession.

How to get involved

Explore the draft plan and share your thoughts before the consultation period ends on Friday, 25th August.

HSC Trial Dates

Students and parents / guardians of Year 12,

Since the original distribution of the Year 12 Trial examination timetable, there have been two minor changes to the schedule. Changes are as follows:

1. The Society and Culture exam, running on Tuesday 15th August, will now start at 1:30pm. This exam will now conclude at 4:30 pm. Originally this was posted with a start time of 1pm. This is to support the equity of students participating in both the Mathematics and Society & Culture exams on the 15th, allowing for the break time between the morning and afternoon exam sessions to be matched across all examination days.

2. The Design and Technology exam on Monday 21st August was originally posted as a duration of 3 hours. This is incorrect. The Design and Technology exam (21st/08/2023) has a run time of 1.5 hours. All other details of the exam will remain the same.
