Sail Sydney – December 12-15
Sail Sydney is the premier Dinghy sailing event in Australia this year.
The Notice of Race for Sail Sydney 2019 has been released, with Woollahra Sailing Club set once again to be a hive of activity from December 12th – 15th where scores of competitors will battle it out on the waters of Sydney Harbour.
Last year’s event saw more than 300 competitors take part, with both Junior and Olympic Class fleets featuring competitors from New Zealand, Malaysia, Macedonia, Hong Kong and Holland, as well as Australia.
We are expecting another large fleet of local, national and international sailors to take part in 2019.
The Notice of Race is available now.   Online registration for competitors, support boats and volunteers is open.

Rosé Bay 2019 – December 7
As you would be aware the Rosé Bay event will be staged again this year at Woollahra Sailing Club. The date is 7th of December and the organisers are keen to welcome members to experience the club in a new way. Members will be able to visit the Eventbrite site for Tasting Pack/Ticket sales and receive a 10% discount. Big weekend ahead
Prepare for  a big weekend at the Club.  This weekend we host the 2019 Bondi Outrigger Canoe Club Regatta, Club racing, Optimist and 420 training, Tackers and Green Fleet sailing.  The forecast is for strong wind so please be prepared.  This Sunday is also the Double Bay Street Festival with associated traffic restrictions.

Volunteer Competence Training
We would like to thank the dozens of members that attended our 2019 volunteer competence training as it was a great success for our sailing/paddling community.
It was indeed a fun and informative intro to Woollahra Sailing Club operational life and every participant had the chance to get hands-on, on-shore experience, receive takeaway materials to refer to when it’s their turn to volunteer.

Club News – October 19 2019

Volunteer Competence Training
WSC volunteer competence training is free and we encourage all members to participate on Sunday Oct, 20th from 9am to 12pm.
Lunch, coffee and drinks Provided.  Racing to follow at 2pm – plenty of time to rig.
Course Outline – 4xSubjects, 4xStations, 45min each
1. Facilities – Winch Operation – launching On Ramp Facilitator – Greg Dixon
2. Rescue boat operation – Safety Responsibilities; Start of Day – gear check; Radio Operation; Retrieving Sailors; Towing Boats; Race Buoys
– Anchors, Anchor Lines, Buoys;  End of Day – returning gear & reporting incidents/gear repairs. Facilitators – Gaye and Martin
3. Start boat & race management– Safety Responsibilities; Principles of race course setting; On-board roles and responsibilities; Laying marks for the Presiding Race Officer (PRO) by Rescue Boat (note, this is not a learn-to-run-a-race course – simply what you’ll be asked to do to support the race management) Facilitator – Dan Smith
4. Basic First aid – Safety Procedures & Communications- on-water, club, ambulance, police; defibrillator locations at

Learn to sail aka Tackers level 1 – 2 – 3

– Promote and celebrate female participation in Sailing;
– Provide new and existing female sailors with the opportunity to enjoy activities at their local sailing club with like-minded people;

Club News – September 13 2019

Ramp Stage One Open

This afternoon at 15.00 sharp, Woollahra Sailing Club new ramp was launched by our Commodore, General Manager, builders and WSC Staff.
It is an great achievement for our community and a it was encouraging to see the amount of boats, kayaks and windsurfs that were immediately pressed into action.
The official opening ceremony and party is schedule for mid November.  Stay tuned for details.
